Little King Matty… and the Desert Island

A Satirical Classic of Politics, Allegory, and Educational Philosophy

Overview

On the surface, Little King Matty… and the Desert Island is the adventure of a child-king navigating statecraft, war, and diplomacy. Beneath it lies a political satire and psychological manifesto written by world-renowned pediatrician and child psychologist Dr. Henryk Goldszmit (Janusz Korczak).

Using the backdrop of post-WWI European geopolitics, Korczak mirrors the struggles and systemic flaws of the Second Polish Republic while exploring timeless themes of power, reform, and child psychology.
